Matt, we just wanted to drop a line to you and your people here at your website to say that we have seen you twice a year for the last 7 years in Key West, first at Irish Kevin's, then Big Uns. We even came down from Baltimore especially to see your last Key West show in June '09, sad to see you leave, but happy that you were starting another chapter in your life. Anyway, we were down in late November (a few weeks ago) and we just wanted to let you know that we walked by an EMPTY Big Uns every night...every night for 7 nights straight, and to also say that Irish Kevin's has never been the same since you left. Nothing agaist the places...just an observation. Don't know if you ever plan a return, but any business in their right mind should be smart enough to know that a MATT AVERY RETURNS campaign would blow this town up all over again. We know something about the place you left and we are highly doubtful of their wherewithall, honestly. And their lack of business proves us right, we guess. Anyway, just thought you'd like a report. You probably don't care...you left for a reason, right? Hope you had a Merry Christmas and we will see you in Jersey!

Hey, just trying to catch up on what's been going on. This is Herschel, the "old guy" that used to sing at Cheeseburger Key West and sometimes sing harmony at Big Uns with you during your slower show nights. Tell Matty Q that I said "wazzup".
I'm not gigging as it was in the Keys but I did land a sweet day gig. I'm back teaching music (Jr High and High school Band) in East Texas. We only have 3 more games to play for the football season (this week is homecoming). Still playing and writing. I'm also trying to set up some playing time in the summer (no school) If you guys want to put a summer road show together, count me in. There's bound to be something we can do to make some fun turn into money. All my best.

Want to just do a quick check in to let everyone know all is well here in Jersey. I have been blessed with more gigs than I can get to. But the last 3 months have been a process of separating the men from the boys, and seeing who is too pussy for a "MATT" show. Booked some of my first NY gigs (In Oct), a yuppy Philly gig that was excrutiatingly boring , waste of my Wednesday night time...again, weeding out.
